Tagovailoa got the head injury with about 4:30 left in the third quarter. The Dolphins quarterback started running at the beginning of the play, before putting his head down into the chest of Bills safety Damar Hamlin.

Tagovailoa's neck bent strangely when they hit. He then fell to the ground, with his arms seeming to shake. He was taken to the locker room.

Tagovailoa finished 17 of 25 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. The quarterback, who signed a $212.4 million contract extension this off-season, had two recorded concussions during the 2022 NFL season, but played all 17 games in 2023.

Skylar Thompson is the only other quarterback on the Dolphins' team.

The Dolphins will play the Seattle Seahawks in their third game of the season Sept. 22 in Seattle.
